The worlds simplest diet at pausediet.com

At the start , I must warn you that the concept is simple. It has worked for me and I am sharing it with you. I must also mention that I am not a diet professional and thus you must do this only at your own risk.

This simple easy diet works by you having to remember to "pause" at the three times described below:

 1. Pause before eating

One problem that I used to have was that I had the tendency to take food on "impulse", i.e. without thinking . That used to make me serve myself unnecessarily large servings or make me buy that unnecessary chocolate bar.

Now by pausing before I serve or buy any food, I give myself time to think. This brief pause often gives enough time for my mind to realise what is happening and then take control and limit that large serving of dinner or stop buying that unnecessary chocolate bar.

 2. Pause before your next spoonful or bite

The other problem that I used to have was that I would eat reflexively. That is, I would take spoonful after spoonful without really appreciating what I was eating. The problem is that if your mind doesn't appreciate what it is eating , it will still remain "hungry" and you will then be tempted to eat more than what you actually need.

Now I pause between spoonfuls or bites. For example, I put down my spoon on my plate after putting food into my mouth and this helps to provide that little pause before my next spoonful. If I am eating a sandwich, I put the sandwich down after each bite. This little pause allows my mind to appreciate the food I am eating, and at the end of the meal my mind is content and "full".

 3. Pause halfway through what you are eating

This to me is a very crucial pause and is relatively easy to do.

Whatever you are eating, pause halfway through the meal. After eating half of that sandwich or dinner, keep it aside for about five to ten minutes.  During this time, you are allowing your mind time to get feedback from your tummy about the food you've just eaten. The idea is that the more your mind is aware of what you have eaten, the more "full" it will feel.

After this pause, you might even realize that you don't actually want to eat more, and in that case put that other half away or even throw it.

If you decide to eat all of the rest of the food, then at least, after you finish you will feel "full" and hopefully not crave for a second serving of more food.

So this is basically the "pause diet". So to remind you again ....

  1. Pause before you buy / serve yourself something

  2. Pause before your next spoonful or bite

  3. Pause halfway through what you are eating

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I start ?

Start now. Do not wait till next Monday or till you get that new job etc. Your mind is addicted to food and will try and find one excuse or another to postpone the start of your dieting. There is no excuse! Start now.

You haven't said what to eat ?

The reason is that this diet assumes that you have common sense. Of course if you eat huge chunks of cake and ice cream , you are not going to lose weight easily. We all know what a balanced diet is. We all have common sense .... though we always don't want to acknowledge it.

Isn't this diet rather simple ?

Yes it is and that is its advantage. There is no point undergoing a complex million dollar diet if it isn't practical enough to follow on a day to day basis. Impractical diets may make you lose weight initially, but as soon as stop,  it will all come back with a vengeance. The "Pause Diet" is a simple diet that you can follow for the rest of your life, and thus help you to keep your weight down forever. I know it is a simple concept, but just because something is simple doesn't mean that it is useless. It has worked for me and I want it to work for you.
